Not quite chin length...

Ok Gladys, it's not really chin length! It's short though, just above the shoulders as you can see! I like it because it's very versatile, I can wear it curly or straight and if i curl it under it looks like a bob. Anyway, here it is! Miss you!
And anyone else reading this HI! Got my haircut as you can tell by the pic!

OUCH!!

We had Annie's after surgery check up today, 2 weeks has flown by! They removed the splint and took a good look at her "wound" it's healing nicely! Below is "the wound" as they call it at the doctors office, I think that makes it sound like she was in some kind of war battle!

On the other side of her ankle there's a really small little "wound" that had a stitch or 2 in it, not sure if that was for the surgery or to release the tension on her skin due to swelling (the nurse didn't know and we didn't ask the doctor) She now has a pretty neon pink cast (thank you Peter for breaking your arm last week and picking the neon green, Annie couldn't be a copy cat so she went with the pink which I like better for a girl anyway!) She's still using her scooter for 2 weeks, then it'll be a lovely walking shoe over her cast for 2 weeks and then hopefully we'll be done with whole mess! Overall it's an experience I hope to never repeat!

Crutches at school? Not hardly!

When I hurt my leg in High School I was stuck crutching around, carrying my backpack with every single text book and binders I had, that backpack must've weighed 100 pounds! Crutches for Annie? I DON'T THINK SO! We're going to get her a leg caddy! Check this out...

Her hurt leg rest nicely on the padded caddy, she'll be able to set her backpack over the handle bars and then scooter her way through the hallways of school! SWEET!! Why couldn't we have this technology when I was a kid! Heck, I'd even sit on it and push my way around like those kiddie bikes (the kind toddlers use before they can reach the pedals of a tricycle!) I might just get me one for the fun of it!

Sleeping like a baby...

Annie is home and sleeping like a baby! She's a little groggy and tired but that's to be expected after surgery. The doctor placed 2 screws in her ankle to get the bones aligned, Darrell also asked him to tighten the screws in her head but that's not Dr VanBoerum's specialty so we'll have to keep living with that! HAHA! She's doing great! Just relaxing and recovering! Thanks everyone for your thoughts! It's nice to know so many people care about Annie!

Surgery it is...

Today we met the surgeon, very nice guy and from what we hear the top surgeon in the state for foot and ankle trauma (nothing but the best for our Annie) Plus he promised Darrell he'd get plenty of sleep tonight and no alcohol as he'll be cutting open our little girl and screwing a couple bones together tomorrow morning around 8am (I don't see why we have to be there at 630AM!)
YIKES!! This is so scary!!! We've never had to deal with this kind of thing before, but she'll be fine and we'll be home sometime tomorrow afternoon!
Everyone remember Annie in your prayers!

NO ICE!

With all the snow and ice I've been pretty worried about slipage, so yesterday I went outside and snowblowed like crazy. I had Shawna out there helping by getting icemelt on our sidewalks and front steps. However, this morning our darling little Annie headed out to school and, you guessed it, slipped on the front step in the only place Shawna couldn't icemelt because we ran out using it eveywhere else. She immediately called my cell phone to let me know she'd fallen and could not get up! I quickly pulled on some pants (as I was still cozy in bed with only jammies on!) and ran down to help her up. She had a nice sized ball like thing growing out of the side of her foot (Huge and grotesquely swollen!) so I decided at 8am I'd call the doctor as soon as they opened. We got her in early, had the x-rays done and found that indeed she has broken her ankle (through the joint and growth plate!) So come Monday we'll be off to the Occupational Surgeon to have him take a look and let us know what we need to do (although our doctor said surgery is in our future!) Poor Annie! At least she has a high tolerance for pain!
Here she is modeling her fabulous boot (only used to stablize, she cannot put any pressure on her leg!) and modeling the beautiful crutches we rented from Smiths!
(Thank goodness I'll get my money back upon returning them!)
Poor Annie! Get well soon baby! I love you!

New Years Day

New Years Day means spending time with my mom's whole family at the bowling alley! It is truly a blast! My Grandparents pay for a day of bowling and we take up nearly the entire alley! My aunts and uncles and cousins and all the little kids show up and, depending on who it is and how well they bowl, see who the best bowler is, or the worst (me!). My grandparents bowl on a league and so do a couple of my aunts/uncles! So we have some really good bowlers and some stinkers too (me again!) here are some fun pics from bowling...
Bowling alley french fries and pizza, YUM!

Brock watching for his ball!

Auntie Angela being silly (which doesn't happen often enough! And this pic will make a reappearance at least once, maybe several times, in the 2010 calendar!)

Everyone just hanging around watching the others bowl and waiting for their turn!

We have such a good time as a family! I'm so blessed to have such wonderful people to call family! I'm glad that we get together for our "baby poop green" parties! I wouldn't change them for the world!

New Years Eve

We went to Bryan and Kiersti's to ring in the New Year and the Olsens had this fabulous idea to have Raclette! It was to DIE for! They grilled up some chicken, steak and Keilbsa sausage, Bryan boiled about 500 lbs of potatoes (needless to say there were leftovers there) and there was also some bread. While the meat is grilling on the top layer of the grill you put cheese slices (whatever kind you want, we had gouda and some other yummy kind I can't remember the name of) in the little pan below, it melts and then you dish up your meat, potatoes and other yummies and dump the cheese on top! What a wonderfully heavenly meal it is!! (much better then pizza! LOL!!)

This is a raclette grill, available at Target.com! I'm gonna get one!

The other fabulous idea was playing RockBand, which I have never done before (and still have not ventured to that arena!) My favorite was Erik singing a high soprano (if you can call it that!) but also Lo singing was way cute too. I have video but I'm afraid Erik would kill me, instead here's Annie's venture on the drums (she waited until we all started playing another game before she dared jump on!)

I'm glad we have such wonderful friends and family to hang out with! Thanks guys for such a fun New Years Eve!
