I'm done with SCHOOL, aren't I?

I thought when I graduated with school that was it, I was done! NO WAY!! Now I have to help with homework (things I long ago forgot, which means I have to read the textbooks AGAIN!) The latest was a wonderful idea Shawna's teacher had to help them learn about the Middle Ages and Medieval Times (the sarcasm isn't quite coming through!), they had to pick from doing a report, 3-D project or poster board with pictures. All 3 things kind of required the report and of course we couldn't go easy! Here's Shawna's FABULOUS 3-D paper castle!

And while Shawna did this project herself I still had to help with supplies, find ideas, supervise the construction and cheer her on when it took longer then she thought it should. I also helped find websites she could gather info for her report and "parts of a castle" paper. Overall Shawna did an AWESOME job with this project! I just wish the teachers would come up with less complicated homework projects!

YAY BEDS!!

Here's the pics of the girls new beds! We are sooo excited for these new additions! As you can see from the pics, their headboards have lots of storage space, each bed has 8 drawers, 4 on each side and on one side of the headboard there is a storage cubby for blankets or dirty clothes, the other side has shelves. Now we can't wait to PAINT!!
This is Annie's bed, she picked the black and white bedding with the teal blue accent color!

This is Shawna's bedding, her bed looks exactly like Annie's and isn't pictured here because she wants everything perfectly in its place before we show anyone!

Are you in?

I love this tag - I got this idea from my friend Jennie - a great idea!! Anyway, here it goes:
The first 3 people to respond to this post will get something crafty made by me! My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
1. I make no guarantees you will like what I make.
2. What I create will be just for you.
3. It will be done this year.
4. You have no clue what it's going to be.
5. I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.
The catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 3 people who do the same on your blog. The first 3 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they did win a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me! Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it! Who's in? Good luck!!!

I WIN!!!!

I am soon to be rich! I have been notified by email more then 10 times today that I have

a) Emerged as a winner under the Category "B" of the 2009 Crown Lottery International programme held on the 1st of February, 2009 in London.

b) Have the sum of 19,500,000.00 (I don't know if it's dollars or Hong Kong money here but that's a lot either way!) in a Hang Seng Bank in Hong Kong just waiting for me to claim.

c) My email just won me 600,000.00 pounds and a Toyota Camry

d) FedEx has been waiting for me to contact them regarding a package that is worth OVER $500,000.00 usd and although FedEx won't ship Cheques or Cash they will ship bank drafts (so I'm jumping on that one right away, especially since FedEx is a reputable company so this has to be true!!!)

e) I am the beneficiary to the total sum of 4,600,000.00 pounds, but I can't figure out who died and left me beneficiary and there is no mention of a name in the email I received.

f) I can get a free trial of the fabulous Acai and Green Tea Power Chews from Endless Momentum (Which i can hardly wait to try!)

So all my wonderful friends, as soon as I get all this money I'm sharing! Let's party and vacation and waste all my soon to be fortune so we can get back to our mundane lives and the real world. Who wants in?!?!?!

Crockpot Breakfast

As I mentioned previously we had a really good Crockpot Breakfast at the Girl Scout Minicamp and here's the recipe...

Crockpot Breakfast Casserole

32 oz of frozen Southern style hash browns
1/2 lb breakfast sausage and/or bacon
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
18 eggs
red pepper or your fav diced veggies
1 C milk
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dry mustard

Spray the slow cooker with cooking spray. Place hash browns in the bottom of the slow cooker and top with diced red pepper/veggies. Cook sausage and if using, bacon until crisp then crumble on top of veggies. Top with cheese. Whisk eggs and seasonings together and pour evenly over the hash/veggies/meat layers. Cook on low 10-12 hours.

I'm trying an all meat version with regular hash browns tonight for tomorrow mornings breakfast, I'll let you know how it works and try to take pics if I remember! Good Luck and let me know what you think and what other versions you try!

Dry Ice Ice Cream

Follow safety guidelines for dealing with dry ice!

Dry Ice
2 C Heavy Cream
2 C Half and half
3/4 C Sugar
2 teasp Vanilla
1/8 teasp Salt

Crush the dry ice by placing it in a paperbag and smashing it with a hammer or mallet. Mix all other ingredients together in a large bowl. Shake the dry ice into the ice cream a little at a time and stir vigorously. As you add more dry ice it will start to harden and will get more difficult to mix. Contine adding dry ice until the ice cream has reached desired consistency. Stir in flavorings or canyd pieces if desired. The ice cream will be very cold! Use care when eating to avoid frostbite and make sure the dry ice is completely gone before serving! Freeze leftover ice cream for later!

The carbon dioxide is what makes pop fizzy, it kind of does the same thing w/ ice cream! It's fun to make! Let me know what you think!

Mad Science!!!!

Friday night the girls and I (with our troop) went to a Science Minicamp for Girl Scouts. We got there around 630p, ate dinner, watched movies in our pj's and went to sleep (at least some of the girls did, others stayed up all night chatting along and making the grown ups irritable the next day since we didn't get our sleep!) The funnest day was Saturday since that's when we got to experiment! Everyone woke up and ate a delicious breakfast casserole which they cooked all night in the crockpot (never thought of that!) and it really was fabulous! Then we made Kaleidoscopes, made invisible ink from lemon juice and vinegar and played with dry ice. The best part of the day was definately the dry ice! We made root beer and ICE CREAM!!

This is our troop (we're down to 4 girls! YAY!!) mixing up the ice cream, everyone wanted to help stir!!

Got Milk?

I will post the recipe for dry ice ice cream soon!!
